The word is out. Pharmacy margins are under threat so we need to improve retailing. This isn’t the first or last time we’ll hear this, but as a pharmacy owner I found a solution to the problem wasn’t forthcoming from within the industry.
So I started looking outside pharmacy, in industries which have always had to operate successfully in an environment of intense competition. Industries like music and apparel have always had to fight for a share of the consumer wallet.
I started to pilot a number of marketing, retail and people models to find out what works in a pharmacy environment. The models that were successful in my pharmacies became the basis for building instigo.
