Last month, the Pharmacy Catalyst Group, ran a hugely successful campaign to support local pharmacies and their communities. In the context of the global pandemic, this community-focused campaign was all about sharing stories of kindness and bringing communities together through celebrating their local heroes big and small. This was a wonderful opportunity to focus on those who have gone above and beyond during this challenging time and the individuals that make their town special.

Nominations came from both online and in-store channels across Australia. One nomination featured a carer who fostered four local children from emergency care after an unexpected passing from their mother. Other honourable mentions go to kind neighbours and grandchildren checking in on those doing it tough during the pandemic. There was even a hero nominated who had risked his own life by fighting off a shark attack on two teenage surfers!

instigo’s Group Marketing & Operations Manager, Shannon Kerr stated “If there is one positive that comes out of a pandemic, it is that tough times allow us to really see those individuals who are prepared to step up for others. Pharmacies exist at the heart of local communities, and they have continued to open and provide vital services in the last 6 months. We were overwhelmed by the entries that showcased the best of community pharmacy -staff and customers alike- and loved that a number of pharmacies held their own ceremonies to acknowledge nominees and celebrate their local community.”
