The recent rain deluge has brought significant bush fire relief across Eastern Australia, which were fueled by record-breaking temperatures and of severe drought. Fires in New South Wales, have devastated more than five million hectares, destroying more than 2,000 houses and forcing thousands to seek shelter elsewhere. In the past weeks we have experienced significant rain fall and are now experiencing flooding and abnormal storm weather activity.
During this catastrophic time, the importance of community pharmacy has been highlighted as frontline sources of primary health care as the Pharmacy is seen as a health care destination. The Pharmacies have played an important role in supplying information to those who have lost power and alike. Pharmacists have also been inundated with assisting patients to manage their asthma and smoke exposure as well as how to manage dehydration and fatigue.
Smaller communities are tightly knit, and often has a close relationship between patients and their health care professionals. In some communities which have been affected by the fires, patients have naturally gravitated towards the pharmacy for support. Government initiatives to allow Pharmacists to supply medicines in circumstances where the patients cannot access their prescriptions have been very helpful to reduce distress and improve the health and wellbeing of the affected communities.
Arrotex generously set aside a sum of money to provide financial support to communities affected by the recent bushfire crisis affecting NSW and Victoria in which two of our client pharmacies Mossvale Village Pharmacy and Culburra Pharmacy were able to receive which no doubt provided essential support during this difficult time with lost homes, businesses and stability.
We would also like to take this opportunity to share some local businesses who are situated near some of our Pharmacies, it would be great to show support to these businesses.
